Capitalism is not just a theory. It is the engine that drives Western economies.
Look at the map.
Most developed countries are based on private ownership, market competition and the pursuit of profit. A socialist system? They are outliers. As of 2020, only four countries claim to adhere to strict Marxist-Leninist principles: Laos, China, Cuba, and Vietnam.
But here’s the catch.
It is rarely accurate to classify a country as pure capitalism or pure socialism. The reality is messier. Most countries have mixed economies. They blend the mechanisms of capitalism with socialist principles. You get market freedom alongside state regulation. You get private profit alongside a public safety net.
The binary choice is a myth. The real story is in the balance.
